With very mixed feelings, the Kantara Board of Trustees announces that our Executive Director, Joni Brennan, has tendered her resignation and will shortly be relocating to Canada. While Joni’s departure will be keenly felt, we recognise that she has great opportunities ahead of her, and bid her farewell with deep gratitude for all she has done for the Kantara Initiative.
I have had the pleasure of working with Joni not just in Kantara, but also in the organisation’s predecessor, the Liberty Alliance, since around 2005. Over that time, I have seen Joni grow professionally, taking on new challenges and developing new skills, and succeeding with great persistence and diplomacy. In particular, Joni has built relationships for the organisation which will be invaluable to it in the next phases of its evolution: our future success will be built on foundations that Joni has put in place. Joni wrote a farewell message which you will find below.
Joni, we will miss you, you will be a hard act to follow, but we wish you every success and happiness wherever your life leads you next.
On behalf of the Board and, I am sure, the whole Kantara community: thank you.
Dear Kantara Community,
I have stepped down as Kantara Initiative Executive Director as of December 11th, 2015. The decision to leave Kantara Initiative was NOT at all easy. It has been a true honor to help to build Kantara Initiative to the organization that it is today. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with each and every member and partner of this organization. I have learned more than I could have ever imagined and have been blessed to make some life-long friendships along the way.
As some of you may be aware, I was recently married and will officially relocate to Canada. As such, my targets are set for the next opportunities based in Canada where I will continue to contribute to the Identity and Access Management landscape working to bridge technology and policy for economic prosperity and the greater good of society.
After 13 years of working with the Kantara Initiative, Liberty Alliance, IEEE-ISTO, and IEEE-SA, I am excited for the opportunities ahead and I look forward to staying in touch with many of you. This is not “good-bye”, rather it is “see you in a new incarnation.”
I’d like you all to know that Kantara Initiative operations are well in hand. The Board of Trustees confirmed a transition team to closely manage key projects until a new resource(s) is put in place. Additionally, Ruth Puente (email@example.com) is ready to support all Assurance needs while Jane Celusak (firstname.lastname@example.org) is ready to support general inquiries. If you have any questions please contact the Kantara team here https://kantarainitiative.org/contact-us/
I wish all of the Kantara community and beyond, all the best for future endeavors and to quote one of my late great mentors, RL Bob Morgan, “Onward in all directions!”
